K-State observance of day of mourning for President George H.W. Bush
Submitted by Communications and Marketing
On Monday morning, Kansas Gov. Jeff Colyer issued an executive order declaring Wednesday, Dec. 5, 2018, a legal holiday in observance of the death of former President George H.W. Bush.
Kansas State University will observe the day in the same manner as the Veterans Day holiday. The university will remain open and scheduled classes will be in session. Only those employees required to conduct necessary business should be requested to work. University support staff, or USS, and unclassified nonexempt employees who do work shall be compensated at one and one-half times (of either compensatory time or pay). Unclassified — or nonteaching — exempt staff and USS who work will be afforded equivalent time off at a later date.
