K-State Wind Ensemble and Wind Symphony present concert Dec. 6
The K-State band program will present a concert at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 6, at McCain Auditorium. The concert is free to the public.
The K-State Wind Symphony will perform works by Mackey, Camphouse, Ticheli and Ito. The Wind Symphony will perform at the Kansas Music Educators Association In-Service Conference in February of 2019. The Wind Symphony was selected after submitting recordings that were judged by a blind committee. Numerous colleges from around the state submitted applications and only three were selected to perform at this prestigious state conference. The Wind Symphony is under the direction of Alex Wimmer, assistant director of bands.
The Wind Ensemble will perform works by Bernstein, Sousa, Mackey and Laren. They will be joined by Anna Wytko, professor of saxophone, on Libby Larsen's "Holy Roller." The Wind Ensemble will perform music that will performed at the American Bandmasters Association in March of 2019. This invitation-only performance is one of the most prestigious venues where a collegiate wind band can be invited to perform. The Wind Ensemble is under the direction of Frank Tracz, director of bands.
