Associate professor of music publishes biography of famous organist
David C. Pickering, associate professor of music and chair of the keyboard division at Kansas State University, has written a biography on famed organist and organ pedagogue Arthur Poister, 1898-1980, titled "Arthur Poister: Master Teacher and Poet of the Organ."
This comprehensive biography encompassing more than 500 pages of Poister's life, performing and teaching careers, was recently released by Wayne Leupold Editions, Colfax, North Carolina. Poister is viewed by many as one of the most significant American organists of the 20th century.
Faculty in the School of Music, Theatre, and Dance have received Grammy awards and nominations, and Emmy awards; produced recordings on international and national CD labels; published books and journal articles with international and national publishing houses and professional organizations; and performed and presented research in every continent in the world, except Antarctica.
