Update from the Multicultural Center Project Action Team
The Multicultural Center Project Action Team continues its work to move forward the vision, program statement, and plan for a privately-funded center that advances student success, diversity, inclusion and social justice.
In November, Kansas State University administrators and students presented the plans for a multicultural center to the Fiscal Affairs and Audit Committee at the Kansas Board of Regents meeting. On Wednesday, Dec. 12, the proposal was presented to the full board and K-State received approval to move forward with the multicultural center.
The MC Project Action Team has been working with Hollis Miller Architects on schematic design work and is excited to share its design concepts with campus following the winter break to allow for community feedback.
Fundraising efforts continue with a total of $4.2M raised for the center. Many student leaders have received fundraising training, courtesy of the KSU Foundation and K-State Alumni Association. We continue to work with students to aggressively pursue additional awards from donors. Our Nov. 9 corporate relations event had more than 15 corporate partners attend to help grow our partnership and share information about giving opportunities in the areas of diversity, inclusion and student success.
