Union food service dresses down for a good cause
The K-State Student Union food service is now taking donations from employees to benefit St. Jude’s Children Research Hospital. Starting in September and continuing through May, more than 100 food service employees have the opportunity to dress casual on Fridays by donating $5 or more a month to St. Jude’s.
“Union food service is glad to be teaming up with St. Jude’s Children Research Hospital. Learning that the daily operating costs for St. Jude’s is more than $1.7 million really puts things into perspective. This is a charity where you know exactly where your money is going and that even the smallest amount is making a difference,” said Emily Osterhaus, food service marketing coordinator.
St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital has treated children from all 50 states and around the world. The hospital has played pivotal role in pushing U.S. pediatric cancer survival rates from 20 to 80 percent. Since opening 50 years ago, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital has changed the way the world treats childhood cancer and other life-threatening diseases.
