Alisa Garni recognized as Professor of the Week
Alisa Garni, associate professor of sociology, was named Professor of the Week.
Garni is a winner of the Presidential Award for Outstanding Undergraduate Research, the Quality Mentoring in Research Award from the Developing Scholars Program, and an ACUE teaching fellow. Her work has been published/is forthcoming in Rural Sociology, Latin American Research Review, Sociological Perspectives, Sociological Forum, Latin American Perspectives, Journal of Immigrant and Refugee Studies and Sociological Spectrum.
Garni has presented her research at conferences in Athens, Santiago and across the United States. Currently, Garni is conducting research on the relationship between Mexican/Central American immigration, changing land use patterns, and local, state and national immigration policy.
The Professor of the Week recognition is coordinated by Faculty Senate, the president's office, K-State Athletics and the Division of Communications and Marketing. Recipients are faculty members selected by Faculty Senate caucuses. Those selected are provided tickets to a men's home basketball game of their choosing and are recognized during halftime. This is just a small token of appreciation for those who teach at K-State.
Garni was recognized at the March 2 home game.
