K-State 48 Film Challenge kicks off fourth annual student film competition with new sponsors, prizes and workshop
Participants in this year's K-State 48 Film Challenge have the chance to "reel" in some great prizes and participate in a free Adobe workshop before the kickoff.
The kickoff is 6 p.m. Thursday, March 21, in Town Hall at the Leadership Studies Building. With more than $9,000 in software and prizes on the line, teams have the chance to get a leg up on the competition by participating in a free, online Adobe Rush workshop today hosted by Adobe. Teams who use Adobe Rush may be eligible for a special juried prize.
The K-State 48 Hour Film challenge was launched in 2016 to offer a fun channel for student creativity and passion for storytelling through film. At the kick-off event, students are given three required elements they must incorporate into their films then they have 48 hours to complete their projects.
In addition to sponsoring the film festival, Adobe will host a one-of-a-kind "Adobe Rush" online workshop at 5:45 p.m. Tuesday, March 19. Rush is a remarkably easy tool to shoot and edit pro-quality video on your phone, tablet or desktop. Everyone who submits their Premiere Rush-created film to the festival will be automatically eligible for a special juried prize: A $100 Amazon gift card for each member of the winning team. This event has grown dramatically over the years thanks to our generous sponsors. Audio and video companies, Adobe, Izotope, Panasonic Lumix, and Canon are sponsoring this year’s event. Campus sponsors include the College of Education, English department, and the Dow Center for Multicultural and Community Studies. In addition, the Union Program Council will co-sponsor the event by supporting student participation.
"K-State has so many talented students involved in filmmaking and this is one of the only chances they have to showcase their abilities," said Erika Davis, UPC program advisor. "UPC will provide gift cards to each individual on the second and third place teams, as well as the audience choice team, and we are so happy to work with the volunteers, staff, faculty, and students."
