Confucius Institute to host therapeutic massage workshop
The K-State Confucius Institute will host a therapeutic massage workshop featuring Lisa Zhang, licensed massage therapist and owner of Ivy Massage in Manhattan, from noon to 1 p.m. Wednesday, April 10, in the K-State Student Union's Bluemont Room.
Zhang will first give a short presentation about the therapeutic benefits of deep tissue massage and trigger point acupressure. She will then provide short massage sessions to interested participants.
Deep tissue massage and trigger point acupressure involves applying appropriate pressure to specific points and areas of the body. The pressure points are the trigger points that relieve muscle pain. In addition to reducing stress and relieving pain, deep tissue massage and trigger point acupressure can also stimulate nerve functions, increase energy, boot circulation, induce a deep state of relaxation, eliminates toxins and help relieve sleep disorders.
The workshop is free and open to the public. Light lunch/refreshments will be served.
