Harvard professor to give talk on Inka khipus, a prehistoric 'computer-like' device

The K-State Distinguished Lecturers Series, the anthropology program, history and mathematics departments welcome Gary Urton, Dumbarton Oaks Professor of pre-Columbian studies at Harvard University, who will give a talk on Inka khipus at 5 p.m. Thursday, April 25, in Town Hall in the Leadership Studies Building.
The Inkas were the largest pre-Columbian empire in South America, and among their many accomplishments, they created a unique device, the khipus, where they recorded both numeric and narrative information.
