Submitted by Sarah McGreer Hoyt
The Friends of the K-State Libraries are serving up hot jazz, good food and an evening of fun at 7:30 p.m. Friday, May 31, in the K-S Ballroom of the K-State Student Union.
The K-State Faculty Jazz-tet will be "Hitting the Hot Spots" for this year's Jazz in (Almost) June concert. Join K-State's jazz faculty members along with bassist Rick Smith and special guest piano artist Beau Jarvis for an evening of round-the-globe travel in music.
Wine, beer, sparkling cider and hors d'oeuvres will be served. Advance ticket purchase is required. General admission is $35, student admission is $10. No paper tickets will be issued; your name will be held at the door. Contact Darchelle Martin at 785-532-7442 to reserve your spot today.
The K-State Faculty Jazz-tet members include Kurt Gartner, percussion; Wayne Goins, guitar; Paul Hunt, trombone and Tod Kerstetter, saxophone/clarinet. Guest pianist Jarvis has a master's degree in musicology from Wichita State University.
This is the final event of the season in the 2018-19 Hale Library Concert Series. All proceeds go to an endowment fund for the refurbishment and upkeep of the Mason and Hamlin grand piano and to the Hale Library Concert Series Fund.
