Form I-9 Basics and Compliance session offered June 20
Submitted by Human Capital Services - Learning and Development
Form I-9 Basics and Compliance, WHR130, will be offered from 8:15-10:15 a.m. Thursday, June 20, in the Edwards Hall commons area.
Human Capital Services offers this session specifically for K-State employees who are responsible for accurate completion of the Employment Eligibility Verification Form, or Form I-9. The Form I-9 is used for verifying the identity and employment authorization of individuals hired for employment in the United States. All U.S. employers must ensure proper completion of Form I-9 for each individual they hire for employment in the United States. This includes citizens and noncitizens. Both employees and employers — or authorized representatives of the employer — must complete the form.
Participants will learn about the requirements of the Immigration and Reform Control Act of 1986, or IRCA. As a result, the presenter will discuss the new revised Form I-9, issued Nov. 14, 2016, and outline the changes, documents commonly presented, and common errors to avoid when completing the Form I-9.
Participants will gain the following from this session:
- Understanding the Immigration and Reform Control Act of 1986.
- How to properly complete the Form I-9.
- Identifying common errors to avoid when completing the Form I-9.
To register for this session, you can either sign up through HRIS self-service or send an email to Megan Hoelting at learning-develop-hr@k-state.edu. When sending an email, please include your name, employee ID and the course title.
