K-State Libraries seeks student ambassador applications
Submitted by Sarah McGreer Hoyt
Know a student with a passion for libraries? Encourage them to apply for K-State Libraries Student Ambassadors. All students — whether first-year undergrads or doctoral candidates — are welcome to apply to serve as advocates and representatives of K-State Libraries. These students play a key role in driving outreach and impacting Libraries' initiatives and services.
"Since the ambassadors' inaugural season in 2013, they've helped us host events, communicate with alumni and potential students and conduct discussions about the Libraries' future," said Darchelle Martin, one of the group's advisors. "We look forward to welcoming a new group of ambassadors from all walks of campus life."
Applications are due by Thursday, Sept. 5. Interviews will be conducted on Friday, Sept. 13. Ambassadors are also required to attend the annual retreat on Saturday, Sept. 21, and regular monthly meetings. More information is available on the ambassadors' website.
Yasameen Albasri, current chair, says that it's an ideal moment to become an ambassador.
"Hale's first floor is reopening soon, and I can't wait to get back inside," Albasri said. "There will be so many changes in the coming year as other floors reopen, too. We want to add more students to our team of ambassadors who are equally excited to experience and promote the new space and the Libraries’ services and incredibly supportive librarians."
