Sara Schoen merits Student Excellence Award from online education alliance

Sara Schoen, Milwaukee, Wisconsin, earned a $1,000 Student Excellence Award from the Great Plains Interactive Distance Education Alliance for use toward her master's degree from Kansas State University.
Schoen is pursuing her degree online in dietetics through K-State. Her coursework could come from any of eight universities collaborating to offer the program. Kansas State University is her home university.
She is one of five students to achieve the scholarship this year. To qualify, Schoen needed to be attaining a bachelor's degree, master's degree or certificate in a Great Plains IDEA degree program from a Great Plains IDEA member university. The Great Plains IDEA governing cabinet reviewed students' goals and granted the awards.
Nineteen accredited universities are members of Great Plains IDEA, a solution to quality online degrees since 2000. In various combinations, universities together offer nine human sciences and nine agriculture programs online.
