A full Wildcat weekend on tap for K-State Athletics
A full Wildcat weekend of events and games are on tap for K-State as the athletics department announced today details leading up to Saturday’s homecoming football and volleyball games.
The weekend begins Friday, when the K-State basketball programs invite fans to a free public viewing from 6-8 p.m. of the new 50,000 square foot Basketball Training Facility. Fans are asked to enter the Jim and Laura Johnson Atrium on the east side of the facility, where they can view trophy exhibits and graphic presentations of K-State basketball history as well as a donor recognition display in honor of the many K-Staters who contributed to the construction of the building.
The public will then be directed to the second level into the Berney Family Reception Center outside the men’s and women’s coaches offices. A dynamic feature in this area is a 4-foot by 10-foot interactive video display, featuring footage of K-State’s legendary coaches, All-America players and historic moments. Fans will then be guided into the practice gymnasiums along the Sunderland Family Foundation Practice Viewing Deck above the courts before exiting. The team locker rooms and lounges, coaches’ offices, strength center and sports medicine area will not be accessible during the tour.
On Saturday, the parking lots of Bill Snyder Family Stadium will open at 9:30 a.m. allowing fans an opportunity to tailgate prior to the Wildcat Basketball Preview presented by Commerce Bank for the men’s and women’s basketball teams, which is scheduled to begin at 11:45 a.m. at Bramlage Coliseum.
The early preview of the 2012-13 men’s and women’s basketball teams is free and open to the public and will feature an introduction of both teams, remarks from seniors Brittany Chambers and Rodney McGruder, a joint 3-point contest, scrimmages by both the men’s and women’s squads, and comments from coach Deb Patterson and coach Bruce Weber. The Wildcat Basketball Preview presented by Commerce Bank will conclude by 1 p.m.
The 97th K-State homecoming football game will kick off at 2:30 p.m. at Bill Snyder Family Stadium, as No. 3/4 K-State hosts No. 17 Texas Tech. While the homecoming matchup with the Red Raiders has been announced as a sellout, a limited number of general admission tickets to the game have been made available for purchase. Those tickets, priced at $55, will be located on the grassy hill in the northeast corner of the stadium and may be purchased online at kstatesports.com, or via phone at 1-800-221-CATS while quantities last.
The weekend will conclude Saturday night as the No. 14-ranked K-State volleyball team hosts Baylor at 7 p.m. in Ahearn Field House. Saturday night’s match features Kansas State’s “Pack the Field House” promotion as all tickets are available for $1. Fans can purchase tickets online at kstatesports.com, via phone at 1-800-221-CATS or by visiting the ticket office in Ahearn Field House prior to the start of the match on Saturday. Tickets for the volleyball match will be made available for purchase at the Bramlage Coliseum ticket office on Saturday during the men’s and women’s basketball scrimmages.
