Civil engineering graduate student to speak at Geological Society of America conference
Hersy Enriquez, graduate student in civil engineering, will be presenting at the Geological Society of America conference in Charlotte, N.C., on Nov. 4.
Her talk, "Abiotic and biotic influences on on the mobilization of arsenic in groundwater of the Okavango Delta, Botswana," is based on work co-authored by her adviser, Natalie Mladenov, assistant professor in civil engineering, and colleagues Siva Damaraju, civil engineering, and Ganga Hettiarachchi, agronomy.
Enriquez' address will summarize the group's work to investigate and better understand the processes that lead to elevated concentrations of arsenic in groundwater of the Okavango Delta of Botswana.
