Engineering geologist to be keynote speaker at the first International Congress on Iranian Irrigation and Drainage
Submitted by Behzad Ghanbarian
Behzad Ghanbarian, assistant professor of engineering geology, is invited as the keynote speaker to the first International and fourth National Congress on Iranian Irrigation and Drainage, known as INCIID2019, Nov. 13-14, at Urmia University.
Ghanbarian will present modern upscaling techniques from statistical physics and their applications to modeling flow and transport in porous media like soils, rocks and fracture networks. During the conference, he will also organize a workshop for faculty and students titled "Applications from percolation theory to multiphase flow in porous media."
Ghanbarian's research area covers a broad range of topics in hydrogeology, geological engineering and environmental sciences. His main research focuses on applying fundamental theories, multiscale numerical approaches and unconventional methods to model fluid flow and solute transport in heterogeneous systems.
