Civil engineering professor elected to fellow status

Submitted by Mary Rankin

Hayder Rasheed, civil engineering professor at Kansas State University, has been elected a fellow of the American Concrete Institute.

The designation is awarded in recognition of his contributions to the work of the organization, a leading authority and resource for the development, distribution and adoption of standards, resources and educational programs involved in concrete design, construction and materials.

Rasheed joined the K-State civil engineering faculty in 2001 and holds the Thomas and Connie Paulson Civil Engineering Outstanding Faculty Endowment position. His research targets the behavior and nonlinear analysis of structural systems made of advanced composites, and reinforced and pre-stressed concrete materials.

He is the author of one graduate-level course textbook and co-author of two reference books. In addition to publishing many journal and conference papers and abstracts, his work has resulted in the development of software packages including the KDOT Column Expert, versions 1-8; KSU Bridge Rating of Inclined Damage in Girder Ends; Bridge Rating of Induced Damage in Girders: Evaluation Software; and Damage Recognition Yielding Bridge Evaluation After Monitoring.
