History department to host Publishing Celebration for faculty members
The history department will host its second Publishing Celebration of faculty who have published books from 4-6 p.m. Friday, Feb. 21, at Union Station by JP's. The celebration will include complimentary pizza and an array of appetizers along with a cash bar.
This year, the department will honor three faculty:
- Eric Brandom, "Georges Sorels Study on Vico Translation, Edition, and Introduction," Brill, 2020.
- David Defries, "From Sithiu to Saint-Bertin: Hagiographic Exegesis and Collective Memory in the Early Medieval Cults of Omer and Bertin," Pontifical Institute of Medieval Studies, 2019.
- Brent Maner, "Germany's Ancient Pasts: Archaeology and Historical Interpretation since 1700," University of Chicago Press, 2018.
We will raffle off one copy of each of the three books to three lucky winners, so be sure to stay for the fun.
Special tip of the hat to Defries, who is in the midst of his first academic year as a tenured associate professor of history thanks in large part to this book. We'll raise a special toast to him for that awesome accomplishment.
Hope to see you all at the festivities tonight.
