Division of Biology seminar speaker to present March 2
Submitted by Division of Biology
Robert Unckless, assistant professor in the department of molecular biosciences, University of Kansas, will present "The Causes of Balancing Selection on Immunity Genes: From Populations to Molecular Interactions" at 3:30 p.m. Monday, March 2, in 221 Ackert Hall.
The Unckless lab explores the interactions between insect species and their symbionts — nematodes, bacteria and viruses — using an evolutionary genomic framework to investigate the evolution of the immune system in insects. During his seminar, Unckless will describe his lab's current work on the molecular mechanisms underlying widespread balancing selection acting on immunity genes in Drosophila.
