Delta Upsilon fraternity voted best Delta Upsilon chapter in the nation
What word could describe the environment of 83 men living in a house at 1425 University Drive in Manhattan? Some may say hectic, others may say wild. The answer came this summer in Chicago for the Delta Upsilon, or DU, fraternity conference and was outstanding.
The Kansas State chapter of Delta Upsilon has had a busy, yet incredible year.
This year the Kansas State chapter of Delta Upsilon was voted by DU International as the top student chapter in the nation out of 78 chapters. Each and every member — and the unique skills and talents they bring with them — is what makes this chapter so amazing.
Not only are the members of this house holding leadership positions within the fraternity, they also hold major leadership positions on campus. This semester Tyler Johnson, junior in management from Parsons, was voted a Kansas State University student ambassador. Javi Lopez, junior in history from Walnut Creek, Calif., was elected K-State Proud co-chair. Kent Balkenbusch, senior in geography from Olathe, was elected president of the university's Interfraternal Council. These are just a few of the many members of DU who hold leadership positions at the university.
Two international students have joined the fraternity in the past year: Gerald Mashange, sophomore in mathematics from Zimbabwe, Africa, and Alberto Porras, sophomore in civil engineering from Mexico City, Mexico. These two members have brought unique perspectives to Delta Upsilon.
Members of Delta Upsilon strive to do their best in everything they do, with academics a major part of members' lives. With an overall 3.33 grade point average, Delta Upsilon currently is in the Top 5 of all houses on campus. New members have a 3.35 grade point average, one of the top grade point averages for new members of the university's fraternities.
This year has been a busy yet exciting year for the members and alumni of Delta Upsilon . The members of DU hope to further their chapters’ skills and to be named the No. 1 Delta Upsilon chapter in 2013, too. Be on the look out for what the members of Delta Upsilon do in the new year.
