Submitted by Roberta Maldonado Franzen
Alianza has selected and welcomes its incoming 2020-2021 board.
Alianza's incoming president is Pedro Silva Espinoza, teaching assistant professor in the College of Education. He will serve as president for 2020-2021.
Latania Marr, an instructor in the College of Education, was elected vice president and will serve in this role for one year and then become president for 2021-2022.
The following board members will serve two years in their new roles:
- Clara Kientz, assistant director in Center for Advocacy, Response, and Education, or CARE, was elected secretary.
- Marianne Korten, professor of mathematics, was elected treasurer.
- Lizbeth Alcantara, international student advisor in international programs, was elected social chair.
Officers are elected every May and serve from June 1 until May 31 of the following year.
Roberta Maldonado Franzen recognizes and thanks the past board — Pedro, Latania, Marianne, Martha Smith Caldas, teaching associate professor in biology; and Rebeca Paz, assistant director of the Office of First-generation Students — for their assistance and support in 2019-2020. She said it was an honor to serve with you.
