Live Ideas journal is launching its 2020 Summer Institute
K-State's primary texts program's journal Live Ideas is launching its 2020 Summer Institute. The theme for this workshop is "It's the End of the World!"
The goal of the institute is to prepare student publications for the fall 2020 edition of the Live Ideas journal, which will highlight a special collection of submissions crafted during this quarantine period. The submissions should either explicitly deal with apocalyptic and post-apocalyptic themes, or at least be in the ballpark — e.g. an essay on climate change, a short story on aging, a poem about heartbreak, etc..
The first Summer Institute is from 7-8:30 p.m. CDT June 17-22, excluding Saturday and Sunday. A second workshop is scheduled July 8-13. Applications for the first session are now closed, but applicants may apply for the second Summer Institute in July.
Please encourage your students, regardless of their majors, to apply for this great opportunity. Each participant is awarded a $250 scholarship.
The following students are scholarship recipients for the first Summer Institute: Alissa Rehmert, Edwin Butler, Grant Weishaar, Austin Rook and Lucely Lopez.
