Student Success Resources Course available
Submitted by Stephanie J. Bannister
All new incoming freshmen and transfer students will have access to a new student success resource in Canvas. The Student Success Resources Course provides students with easy access to key information to support their success at Kansas State University. Our students advocated for using Canvas as a convenient space for them to make quick connections to key resources.
Leveraging the learning management system for student success resources offers many benefits and meets students where they are. The development of the resource incorporated listening sessions with current and future students, advisors, faculty and campus resource partners. We will continue to gather feedback from this pilot year.
The Canvas Student Success resource may be scaled in future years to reach additional student classifications. In addition, the course will be made public and accessible to advisors and faculty. Please use this link to access the course: https://k-state.instructure.com/courses/100145. The course shell will be available to Olathe, Polytechnic and Global campuses and can be adapted to include campus-specific resources. A broad student communication strategy will be implemented to raise awareness of this new resource and the entire campus community is encouraged to remind new students about this helpful Canvas resource.
This initiative supports our Strategic Enrollment Management plan and refreshed K-State 2025 goals to improve connection and communication around student success and remove barriers that negatively impact student progress, retention and overall success. Any questions about the new student success resource in Canvas can be directed to Stephanie Bannister at sbann@k-state.edu.
