Recreational Services to begin phased reopening on Monday, Aug. 3

Kansas State University Recreational Services facilities, including the administration office and Chester E. Peters Recreation Complex, will reopen on Monday, Aug. 3.
Recreational Services will reopen in three different phases to help keep the K-State community healthy. Phase 1 begins on Aug. 3. Phase 2 will begin Monday, Aug. 17, pending the COVID-19 situation and changes.
During Phase 1, Recreational Services will have limited hours. The Rec Complex will be open from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday to Friday and the Rec Complex administration office will be open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday to Friday. Both will be closed on Saturday and Sunday.
Additional policies and patron expectations will be in place, including required face coverings, closed drinking fountains and extra cleaning measures. Patrons must maintain 6 feet of physical distance as much as possible. Patrons must enter the Rec Complex through the north entrance and all patrons will have their temperatures checked upon entering the facility. The south parking lot and entrance will be closed during Phase 1.
All students who attended K-State in spring 2020 and summer 2020 will have facility access during Phase 1. All paid members will be allowed entrance but there will be no guest passes sold.
Open areas during Phase 1 include:
- Cardio deck.
- North and south weight rooms.
- Selectorized weights machines.
- Walk/running track.
- Mat stretching areas.
Closed areas during Phase 1 include:
- Locker rooms and showers.
- All courts, including basketball, racquetball, small gym and multiactivity court.
- Climbing wall.
- Fitness studios.
- Performance zones.
- Lobby areas.
Services unavailable during Phase 1 include:
- Equipment checkout.
- Towel service.
- Personal training.
- Group fitness classes.
- Drinking fountains.
- Building reservations.
