K-State professor performs on TCU's Summer Broadway Sermon Series
Submitted by Professor Jerry Cranford
Jerry Jay Cranford, associate professor of theatre, will be a featured soloist for the Texas Christian University's Remote Summer Broadway Sermon Series featuring the music of "Les Misérables" on Sunday, Aug. 2.
Cranford spent seven years performing on Broadway at the Imperial Theatre and on the international tour of the hit musical.
Singing the music of the lead character Valjean, he will be joined by Olivier and Tony award-winner Shuler Hensley as Inspector Javert. During his tenure with "Les Mis," Cranford performed alongside Sutton Foster, Lea Salonga, Colm Wilkinson, Norm Lewis and the late Laurie Beechman.
The Broadway series has featured music and performers from "Hamilton," "Fiddler on the Roof," "RENT," "Dear Evan Hansen" and "The Sound of Music."
Later this month, Cranford will perform a safely-distanced outdoor cabaret gala for the Jewish Community Center of Kansas City.
