Laptops now available for checkout in Hale Library

UPDATE: This service has been replaced.  Please see the IT Equipment Checkout page for details.

The fire in Hale Library left students with reduced access to computers and limited equipment checkout inventory. Together, K-State Libraries and the Division of Information Technology secured funds from the Student Governing Association to purchase a self-dispensing laptop kiosk for Hale Library.

The kiosk, located near the black and white printer on the second floor, allows students fast, easy access to a computer for up to two hours. If the kiosk is well-received, there is potential to purchase another kiosk, which would bring the number of laptops to 30.

Students can borrow a laptop by clicking checkout, swiping their ID card and reading the terms of use carefully before accepting. The laptops work on the K-State wireless network and just like the other library computers, they do not store data. As such, students will need to bring an external device or use One Drive to save files. Borrowed laptops must be used in the library. Laptops are cleaned between use as a safety precaution.

If students have general questions about how to use the laptops, they can reach out to the IT Help Desk at helpdesk@k-state.edu
