FCI Constructors recognizes efforts of ARE/CNS faculty
FCI Constructors Inc., Grand Junction, Colorado, has authorized a one-time distribution of nearly $12,000 from its KSU Foundation Excellence Fund in support of the GE Johnson Department of Architectural Engineering and Construction Science faculty. The award was given in recognition of efforts the faculty have made to maintain a strong on-campus presence during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Ray Buyle, associate professor and department head of architectural engineering and construction science, approached FCI about using the funds as a morale boost for his faculty.
"FCI has a long tradition of hiring K-State construction science management graduates and providing summer internships for students in our program as well," Buyle said. "It is a proud and longtime supporter of the department."
The Excellence Fund has traditionally been used to support faculty professional development and student competition teams. But with conferences and competitions either canceled or moved to virtual platforms as a result of the pandemic, opportunities to use these funds have been very limited.
FCI agreed to award the faculty bonuses, noting its continued commitment to the department is "in no small part in recognition of the dedicated faculty and the excellent education they provide."
