End of year performance review reminder
Submitted by Employee Relations and Engagement
As the 2020 annual performance review cycle is ending, Employee Relations and Engagement reminds colleges and units the university previously announced annual evaluations of unclassified professionals and university support staff employees would be flexible for calendar year 2020.
- Supervisors of university support staff employees who opted to conduct annual evaluations will need to complete the performance reviews for all their direct reports by Jan. 31, 2021.
- Supervisors of unclassified professional staff who have opted to have annual evaluations must submit documentation of activities and accomplishments for the rating period before Jan. 15, 2021.
It is important for all departments whether they have opted to suspend or continue with the end of year evaluations to use the standard Performance Evaluation form for university support staff or departmental evaluation form for unclassified professional staff to document how the year is being closed out with the employee.
For colleges and units with university support staff employees who opted not to give an annual evaluation please make the appropriate notations on the Performance Review Form and follow the instructions from the July 17, 2020, K-State Today article.
If an evaluation is not completed for this evaluation period, HCS recommended in the K-State Today article that supervisors notify employees and make a note on the current calendar year evaluations as follows:
"Due to the COVID-19 crisis in the spring/summer of 2020, the university suspended requirements for mid-year and annual reviews."
Once this notation has been made on the form and all other pertinent information filled out the supervisor and employee should provide signatures on the form. Note: Reviewer signature is not required for suspended evaluations not receiving an overall rating.
Please contact Employee Relations and Engagement for assistance or questions.
