Advisor Forum presents January Charlie Award
Submitted by Katelin Christianer-Donkers
The Advisor Forum has selected Mechelle Martinez, academic advisor for the College of Education, for the January Charlie Award.
Martinez was nominated by a colleague for this award because "she is not one to toot her own horn, but works tirelessly with her on-campus students, our online students, and transfer students."
Martinez is praised for being instrumental in working with Deana Core on the transfer equivalency guides to make sure the college's transfer students know what they need to be taking at their community college and for spending countless hours working with students who are not even on campus yet.
Martinez also works with K-State athletes to make sure they can still practice and attend the required classes.
Martinez's students say they love her and she makes them feel like they can come to her for anything.
The Advisor Forum thanks Martinez for the work she has done for students and congratulates her on this award.
As a reminder, to nominate someone for the Charlie Award, fill out the short online form. Once your nomination is complete, it will remain an active nomination for one full academic year. Nominations can be completed at any time and can be submitted by anyone on campus. One award will be given out at the beginning of each month. The Advisor Forum Committee will make the decision and deliver awards.
