Registration open for spring 2021 Math and Art Seminar

The K-State mathematics department, in cooperation with the Marianna Kistler Beach Museum of Art, will host a spring 2021 Math and Art Seminar.
The online interdisciplinary seminar is dedicated to visual creativity inspired by mathematical sciences.
It will host presentations by three mathematicians and two artists.
The talks will feature the following topics:
- Reconstructions of kinetic mechanisms by Nikolai Andreev, Laboratory of Popularization and Promotion of Mathematics at the Steklov Mathematical Institute of Russian Academy of Science, Moscow.
- Fractal illustrations of negatively curved crystals by Curtis T. McMullen, Harvard University.
- Collection of mathematical models at the Henri Poincaré Institute, by François Apéry, University of Upper-Alsace in Mulhouse.
- The art projects of the artists André Rangel, Universidado do Porto and Ekta lab; and Rebecca Blocksome, Kansas City Art Institute.
Each of the 30-40 minute presentations will be followed by a discussion session.
