Legislative Update
The Kansas Legislature enters the fifth week of the session. Beginning this week and over the next two weeks, the Legislature will turn its attention to budget hearings, review and recommendations for the FY 2022 budget.
On Monday, Feb. 8, the Senate Higher Education Subcommittee of the Ways and Means Committee held a hearing on the governor's budget recommendations for state universities, community colleges, technical colleges and Board of Regents. The House Higher Education Budget Committee will hold hearings all week on the higher education budget. K-State President Richard Myers testified to the Senate Subcommittee on Monday, Feb. 8, and will testify before the House Committee on Wednesday, Feb. 10. The Kansas Legislature will provide virtual access to committee meetings and floor action throughout the 2021 legislative session. Links to access the meetings can be found at www.kslegislature.org/li/.
The Office of Government Relations will again provide weekly Legislative Review Sessions through the remainder of the session to discuss the previous week and upcoming hearings and meetings. The next Legislative Review Session will be at noon Friday, Feb. 12, by Zoom. Zoom details are below. You will be required to sign in with your K-State eID and password to access the meeting.
