23rd annual S. Thomas Parker Mathematical Competition
The K-State mathematics department will host the S. Thomas Parker Mathematical Competition on Saturday, April 10.
The competition was created and endowed in memory of S. Thomas Parker a faculty in the mathematics department and was key to the established use of computing technology on campus in 1957before the split of mathematics and statistics into two separate departments in 1961.
This year, the competition will be online. We will post the problems at 1 p.m. Saturday, April 10. Students should then send a scan or photo of their solutions to dav@k-state.edu or to 785-473-0273 by 5 p.m. Saturday, April 10.
If you are interested, please complete the registration form, https://www.math.ksu.edu/events/ksucomp/stp/index.html.
There is no cost — just come, have fun and win money. Exam questions are based on high school and first two years of college mathematics up to Calculus III and ODE. For more information, please contact David Auckly at dav@k-state.edu.
