Brice Lacroix, assistant professor of geology, will receive a grant from the United States Geological Survey EDMAP program for the second time to map the geology of a part of the Coastal Range, Central California.
"This area is especially interesting because it is affected by the high rate of landslide occurrences, with the most recent one stopping traffic on U.S. Highway 1 for more than a year, causing considerable impact to the local economy," Lacroix said.
Graduate student William Jarvis and undergraduate student Ben Walter will both complete the work during summer 2021, and publish the completed geological map on the U.S Geological Survey's National Cooperative Geologic Mapping Program.
