Date change for Summer Advising Institute
The annual K-State/NACADA Academic Advising Summer Institute has changed from Wednesday, May 19, to Thursday, May 20, and will be from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. via Zoom. The institute will focus on "Moving from Reflection to Action: Intervention and Skill Building to Work Toward a More Inclusive Campus."
The institute will include a workshop led by Chardie Baird, professor of sociology and executive director, K-State Office for the Advancement of Women in Science and Engineering, or KAWSE, focusing on collegiality and inclusivity.
This interactive workshop will work through scenarios and examine allyship strategies for improving our own responses when it is pointed out to us that we behave in ways that exclude others. The workshop will be followed by a panel of content experts focusing on actions that support student success. A Lunch and Learn discussion facilitated by Global Campus will focus on lessons learned from virtual advising. The institute will conclude with an update from Jeannie Brown Leonard, vice provost for student success.
Register to attend the institute by Friday, May 14. Additional information regarding institute format and sessions will be made available on the Advising Institute website.
The Academic Advising Institute is sponsored by NACADA: The Global Community for Academic Advising.
