Pedersen presents at Higher Learning Commission conference
K-State Global Campus Dean Karen Pedersen was an invited concurrent session presenter at the recent 125th annual Higher Learning Commission conference, which was conducted virtually. The association has been meeting for generations, first formally gathering as members in 1896.
Today, the Higher Learning Commission accredits higher education institutions in 19 states. Its mission is to advance the common good through quality assurance of higher education as the leader in equitable, transformative and trusted accreditation in the service of students and member institutions. It does so through a series of 10 guiding values.
Pedersen collaborated with Tina Rettler-Pagel from Madison Area Technical College to present the session "Teaching Virtually." Together they provided their 10 top teaching tips and attendees were asked to add their top tips through a collaborative document.
Many great teaching tips and resources were shared as part of the concurrent session.
"Given the changes every higher education institution has faced over the last year, it was rewarding to see so many within the HLC community come together and share their top teaching tips, or 'ah ha' moments," Pedersen said.
