K-State bands present a two-day concert
The K-State band program will be presenting a two-day concert event involving the talented students of the Wind Ensemble, Concert Band, Wind Symphony and University Band.
The concert event begins at 3 p.m. Sunday, March 10, in McCain Auditorium with performances by the Wind Ensemble and the Concert Band. Both groups are under the direction of Frank Tracz, director of bands at K-State, and will feature the conducting talents of our graduate students Andrew Feyes, Patrick Sullivan, Adam Ladd and Alex Wimmer. The bands will perform classic and contemporary works for band, including the compositions by Charles Ives, Claude T. Smith, Richard Strauss and Frank Ticheli.
The event continues at 7:30 p.m. Monday, March 11, in All Faiths Chapel with performances by the Wind Symphony and University Band. The Wind Symphony is under the direction of Don Linn and the University Band is under the supervision of Tracz, Linn and Andrew Feyes.
The Wind Symphony is the newest ensemble in the band program comprise of talented student musicians and will be giving its debut performance. The University Band will be conducted by junior and senior music education students in professional preparation for their future teaching. The band will perform works popular in the school band literature. The Wind Symphony will perform the works of outstanding composers such as Ron Nelson, Norman Dello Joio, Frank Ticheli and Vincent Persichetti.
Admission for both events is free and open to the public. Come out and support the arts at K-State.
