Faculty and staff: Share information about upcoming student organization policy listening circles
Submitted by Center for Student Involvement
Faculty and staff are needed to help spread the word about upcoming opportunities for students to help revise student organization policy as part of the university's Action Plan for a More Inclusive K-State.
The Center for Student Involvement and the committee reviewing the student organization registration policy will host some listening circles this summer to gather insight.
Help is needed to help identify students who can serve as a core group willing to reach out to others within their select communities to gather feedback and insight on the policy. The group of students will have two to three meetings with the committee and staff and will be asked to share the information they gather from their peers.
If you know of a student who may be interested in serving in this role, please share their name via email to kellifarris@k-state.edu by Friday, May 28, so an initial meeting can be scheduled the following week.
Additionally, we will host listening circles to get even more voices from the students in organizations to help us move the policy work forward. Listening circles will happen initially throughout June and then again in the fall 2021 semester. The sessions will be open to all student members of the identified groups in the schedule below.
- Week of June 7 — fraternities and sororities.
- Week of June 14 — club sports.
- Week of June 21 — multicultural student organizations.
- Week of June 28 — general departmental student organizations.
- Week of July 5 — general independent student organizations.
The sessions will be limited to students only over the summer. Faculty/staff will have additional opportunities in the fall 2021 semester. All sessions will be held via this link and will be recorded. Please share this opportunity with students you work with who are involved in student organizations.
If you have any questions, please contact kellifarris@k-state.edu. We look forward to having you be a part of this process.
