K-State Bands hosts successful 2021 Summer Music Camp
The K-State Bands hosted its 27th annual Summer Music Camp June 13-17.
Sixty-four students in grades 5-12 participated in two smaller concert bands coordinated by Frank Tracz, Alex Wimmer, and 13 current and former music students. Jay Gilbert, director of bands at Doane University in Crete, Nebraska and Larry Blocher of Troy University in Troy, Alabama, were the guest conductors for the two ensembles.
Students at the camp not only received quality musical instruction but got to experience campus by bowling at the K-State Union, eating at the Kramer Dining Center, living in Wefald Hall and attending the Manhattan Municipal Band Concert in City Park. The camp was highlighted by a performance in All Faiths Chapel on June 13. Special thanks go to K-State Housing and Dining Services for providing accommodations and lengths they went to so that camp could occur this summer.
Next year's camp will be June 12-16, 2022.
