Attend Summer Research Fellows presentation July 29
The public is welcome to attend the KSRE Summer Research Fellows presentation from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday, July 29, at the IGP Institute, 1980 Kimball Ave.
The students will share their work and findings following an eight-week paid fellowship program designed to prepare undergraduate students for the dynamic and demanding work of graduate or professional school in agriculture-related fields of study.
This year's participants come from Florida A&M University, Tuskegee University, Prairie View A&M University, North Carolina A&T University, Delaware State University, University of Alabama at Birmingham, and Southern University A&M College. Their research interests include veterinary medicine, animal nutrition, food science, pet food, agronomy, agriculture education and sustainability.
Fellows were assigned a faculty mentor to help each develop their research, writing and presentation skills. The program also provides opportunities for the students to strengthen their leadership skills and build relationships with the faculty and students they meet at K-State. This year's mentors are Greg Aldrich, Jayendra Amamcharla, Brandie Disberger, Brian McCornack, Susan Metzger, Cassandra Olds, Chad Paulk, Charles Stark and Zelia Wiley.
This year's program kicked off on June 4 and will conclude July 29 following the fellows' presentation. During the first three weeks, the students met virtually. On week four, they arrived on the K-State campus, where they lived and began their hands-on research.
KSRE's Summer Research Fellows program is offered by the K-State College of Agriculture Diversity Programs Office.
