Shaffer elected to executive committee of the Engagement Scholarship Consortium
Timothy J. Shaffer, associate professor of communication studies and director of the Institute for Civic Discourse and Democracy, has been elected to serve on the executive committee of the Engagement Scholarship Consortium. He is serving as a member-at-large, following colleague David Procter, professor of communication studies, who is completing his term on the board. Shaffer was selected because of his knowledge and expertise in engaged scholarship.
Earlier this year, Shaffer was also chosen to serve as chair of the Emerging Engagement Scholarship Workshop, a premier program of the Engagement Scholarship Consortium. He will serve in both roles with the consortium.
The Engagement Scholarship Consortium is a mix of public and private institutions working collaboratively to build strong university-community partnerships anchored in the rigor of scholarship and designed to help build community capacity. Kansas State University is a member institution of the consortium.
