OIRA launches self-paced data training series
Since 2019, the Office of Institutional Research and Assessment has developed many automated data reports and tools to support planning and decision-making activities across the University. Led by OIRA Fellow Michael Young, the office has launched a series of training videos to assist our users in utilizing institutional data more efficiently.
The purpose of these training videos is to guide users through different aspects of using data-based information, including general data basics and tips on using Power BI reports. Each video clip ranges from eight to 18 minutes, accompanied by corresponding documentation in PDF format. Users can follow those training sessions on a self-paced basis. To access the training series, please visit and log into the website by using K-State login credentials. The first collection of training videos includes:
- Data Mastery by Michael Young.
- Classroom-Level Data (Parts 1 and 2) by Michael Young.
- Tailoring and Exporting Power BI Data by Daniel Carr, data analyst, OIRA.
More training videos will be developed during this academic year. Please contact us if you have any suggestions or questions.
The Office of Institutional Research and Assessment was formally established in October 2019 by combining the former offices of Planning and Analysis, and Assessment, and is currently comprised of two primary functional teams: Reporting and Analytics and Assessment of Student Learning.
