K-State forms new first-generation student honorary society

The Office of First-generation Students has formed a committee comprised of first-generation faculty, staff and students to launch a chapter of Tri-Alpha at K-State in fall 2021. An inaugural induction ceremony will take place from 4-5 p.m. Nov. 10 in Forum Hall at the K-State Student Union as part of National First-generation Celebration Week. 

An email was sent to eligible inviting them to join.

Undergraduate student eligibility requirements:

  • First-generation college student whose neither parent nor guardian completed a four-year college degree.
  • Current degree candidate.
  • Completed a minimum of 30 credit semester hours toward a bachelor's degree. Transfer students will have to have completed at least one semester at K-State.
  • Has a cumulative GPA of 3.2-4.0 in all coursework.
