K-State for All: Disability Awareness Week April 7-13
K-State For All: Disability Awareness Week is April 7-13.
K-State For All is an annual celebration that provides the opportunity to increase disability awareness in the community. This year's events are devoted to disability awareness and improving access to K-State for all!
K-State For All's 2013 kickoff event is from 6-8 p.m. Sunday, April 7, in the Derby Dining Center lobby. It will have fun and food, featuring a free meal, games and prizes.
The Union Program Council will present the film "Bully" at 7 p.m. Monday, April 8, in the Little Apple Theater, K-State Student Union. "Bully" is the first feature documentary film to show how we've all been affected by bullying, whether we've been victims, perpetrators or stood silent witness.
Inclusion and awareness discussions: Students with disabilities share their experiences on campus as it relates to their academic careers. Student panels will be:
- 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, April 9, in 127 Leadership Studies Building
- 10:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 10, in 127 Leadership Studies Building
- 9:30 a.m. Thursday, April 11, in 127 Leadership Studies Building
Jessica Cox, motivational speaker on disability awareness, will talk at 7 p.m. Thursday, April 11, in Town Hall at the Leadership Studies Building. Cox was born without arms, but she flies airplanes, drives cars and otherwise lives a normal life using her feet like others use their hands.
The “Promoting An Accessible Campus” awards ceremony will directly follow Cox's presentation in Town Hall. Faculty and staff will be honored as individuals on campus that go above and beyond to assist in student success.
