K-Staters encouraged to complete Sexual Assault Climate Survey
Submitted by Richard Myers and Thomas Lane
Dear K-State Community:
All students, faculty and staff will soon receive an email with a link to the Sexual Assault Climate Survey. We encourage everyone to take this survey; collecting accurate data helps us understand the full scope of issues surrounding sexual assault, sexual harassment and interpersonal violence. Results from this survey will be compared with our previous survey in 2018 and used to further develop programs and initiatives to increase the awareness and prevention of sexual assault.
Sexual violence, sexual harassment, stalking and intimate partner violence can interfere with your academic/work performance and emotional and physical well-being. Preventing and remedying sexual misconduct at K-State is essential to ensuring a safe environment for all Wildcats. Our goal is to get as many responses as we can and those who complete the survey can enter into a drawing for one of 500 gift cards worth $25.
Confidentiality is a priority; whatever information you share on this survey cannot be identified back to you. We cannot access your IP address or link your survey to your name, student/employee ID, or email address. Your participation is important and we ask you to answer the questions freely and honestly. More detailed instructions will accompany the email with the survey link.
As a reminder, there is a wide range of resources available for those who experience or know someone who is a victim of sexual assault or any form of violence:
- Center for Advocacy, Response, and Education (CARE) provides free and confidential assistance for those in our K-State community who have been victimized by violence.
- Lafene Counseling and Psychological Services offers free and confidential therapy services to assist students' mental health needs.
- Lafene Health Center has practitioners who can provide medication for mental health concerns.
- K-State Family Center offers confidential individual, couple and family counseling services.
- The Office of Student Life can direct you to additional resources, as can Human Capital Services.
- You can also report any experiences to the Office of Institutional Equity using an online form.
The information you provide in this survey is critical to identifying the needs and concerns of all Wildcats at Kansas State. Thank you in advance for helping us better inform future decisions and plans to improve safety on our campuses.
Sincerely,
Richard B. Myers, President
Thomas Lane, Vice President for Student Life
