George M. Strain to present Anatomy and Physiology Seminar
George M. Strain, professor of neuroscience at the Louisiana State University School of Veterinary Medicine in the comparative biomedical sciences department, will present "Molecular Genetics of Deafness in Dogs" at the Anatomy and Physiology seminar at 4 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 16, via Zoom.
Strain has been at the Louisiana State University School of Veterinary Medicine since 1978. Training: Bachelor of Science in electrical engineering (Illinois 1971), Master of Science in biomedical engineering (1973) and doctorate in physiology and biomedical engineering (Iowa State 1977), followed by an NIH postdoctoral fellowship in neurophysiology and neurology at the UCLA School of Medicine Brain Research Institute. He has provided electrodiagnostic testing services in the LSU SVM teaching hospital for 43 years, has published and presented extensively on deafness, electrodiagnostic testing, epilepsy, and other areas of veterinary neurology, and is the author of "Deafness in Dogs and Cats." Strain is recognized internationally as a leading expert in animal deafness. His current research emphasis is on the molecular genetics of pigment-associated deafness in dogs.
