Robert Atchison to retire from Kansas Forest Service
After three decades of dedicated service, our esteemed colleague, friend and mentor Robert "Bob" Atchison is retiring from the Kansas Forest Service. Please join us for an evening celebrating Atchison and his many accomplishments at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 14, at the K-State Alumni Center. Light food and drinks will be provided.
Please share your written congratulations, gratitude, fond memory, or favorite photo of your work with Atchison, to be included in a memory book at his retirement celebration. Letters and photos can be submitted electronically to hartmanj@k-state.edu or mail a copy — unfolded please — to Kansas Forest Service, Attn: Jason Hartman, 2610 Claflin Road, Manhattan, KS 66502. Please submit all materials by Dec. 7.
Atchison served more than three decades with the Kansas Forest Service, beginning as Southcentral District forester in 1990, moving to Northeast District forester in 1995, promoted to community forestry coordinator in 1996, and serving as the Rural Forestry Program coordinator since 1997. Atchison has exemplified what professional forestry looks like in Kansas as demonstrated through his dedication to building partnerships and forestry programs in conservation across the state.
We look forward to seeing you on Dec. 14 to honor the career and a man who will be greatly missed here at the Kansas Forest Service.
