Beach Museum's curator of education presents at international conference
Kathrine Schlageck, associate curator of education at the Marianna Kistler Beach Museum of Art, recently presented at the 2021 International Visual Literacy Association Conference.
Her presentation, "Using Visual Conversations to Facilitate Dialogue, Discussion and Engagement," focused on how the museum shares Visual Thinking Strategies, an open-ended art discussion technique, to facilitate engagement and encourage multiplicity of ideas. Visual Thinking Strategies complement work done by K-State Professor Tim Shaffer regarding principles of civic discourse. Projects shared include collaborative work with 4-H youth leadership programs, the K-State Center for Civic Discourse and Democracy and the Staley School of Leadership Studies.
