Roslyn Dakin to present Division of Biology Seminar
Submitted by Division of Biology
Roslyn Dakin, assistant professor of biology at Carleton University, will present her research "The Power of Friends in Competitive and Cooperative Systems" as part of the Division of Biology Seminar Series at 3:30 p.m. Monday, March 21, via Zoom.
From dodging collisions to choosing your friends, behavior provides a means for animals to respond to diverse challenges. Dakin's research group studies the dynamics of behavior with the goal of understanding how behaviors work and how they have evolved. During the seminar, Dakin will present her work looking at social behavior in winter bird communities visiting backyard feeders and a population of wire-tailed manakins, a neotropical bird species that — like us humans — cooperate to attain status.
