ADVANCE Distinguished Lecture Series presents Michelle Danyluk
The ADVANCE Distinguished Lecture Series and Valentina Trinetta, associate professor in the Food Sciences Institute, Department of Animal Science and Industry, will host Michelle Danyluk, professor of food science at the University of Florida.
Danyluk will present "Case studies in produce production and packing" at 10 a.m. today, Thursday, Feb. 24, in 140 Call Hall.
Danyluk's current research and extension interests include microbial food safety and quality, emphasizing the microbiology of fresh fruits, vegetables, nuts and juices. Her primary research focuses on bacterial pathogens in produce, including production, packing and processing environments, their movement and mitigation in these environments, and the subsequent implications for public health. Danyluk’s extension program includes teaching programs related to the Food Safety Modernization Act, Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points, GAPs and other specialized food safety programs. Danyluk was elected a member of the International Commission on Microbiological Specifications for Food in 2016 and to the IAFP Executive Board in 2019.
