Undergraduate students succeed in Putnam Mathematics Competition
Ten Kansas State University students have placed highly in the 82nd annual William Lowell Putnam Mathematical Competition, the most prestigious mathematics contest for undergraduates at colleges and universities in the United States and Canada. The contest was hosted in December 2021.
According to results released by the Mathematical Association of America, the Kansas State University team finished in the top 21% of the 427 colleges and universities and 2,975 students that participated in the competition.
The team also had two members who placed in the top 28% in the competition: Joseph Hathaway, a senior in mathematics and computer science from Wichita, and Calvin Spellman, a junior in chemical engineering from Augusta.
